Graf, J. A., Whelley, T., & Jones, L. (2004).  Success for people with disabilities after postsecondary education.  PDF Document Review of Disability Studies, 1(2), 67-77.

This article reports on a qualitative interview study of successful people with and without disabilities, asking questions such as whether or not career success resulting from a postsecondary education results in a better quality of life and whether that effect is different for people with or without disabilities.  Found that while there were many common themes, choice, control, and self-determination seemed to be a strong theme for participants with disabilities.
