Mission

The mission of the Exiting - Part B Community of Practice is to create opportunities for participants to learn from each other about how to improve state and community capacity to prepare all students for successful school completion and successful postschool outcomes such as postsecondary education, employment, and independent living.

Focus

The Exiting - Part B Community is a place where state and local administrators, educators, and TA providers can exchange ideas and strategies related to:

  • Reducing dropout rates for students with disabilities.
  • Increasing graduation rates for students with disabilities.
  • Reducing the gap that exists between the graduation rates of students with and without disabilities.
  • Providing successful transition from high school to postsecondary education, meaningful employment, civic engagement, and successful adult community living.
  • Sharing research-based programs, practices, products, and policies that increase student completion rates and improve postschool outcomes.
  • Discussing issues with people in other states who may have solved problems related to exiting.

Activities

As a member of the Exiting - Part B Community, you will have many opportunities to learn from colleagues. Here are some of the ways you may participate:

  • Post an article, publication, or information on an upcoming event to the Web site
  • Learn from your colleagues and other valued community members via conference calls and teleseminars
