Special Education: State Program Improvement Grants Program -CFDA# 84.323A
The purpose of this program, authorized under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997, is to assist State educational agencies and their partners referred to in section 652(b) of IDEA with reforming and improving their systems for providing educational, early intervention, and transitional services, including their systems for professional development, technical assistance, and dissemination of knowledge about best practices, to improve results for children with disabilities. Tech-Prep Demonstration Program - CFDA# 84.353
The Tech-Prep Demonstration Program (TPDP) provides grants to enable consortia described in section 204(a) of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998 (Perkins III) to carry out tech-prep education projects authorized by section 207 of Perkins III that involve the location of a secondary school on the site of a community college, a business as a member of the consortium, and the voluntary participation of secondary school students. Following an initial recruitment period, funded projects would enroll a new student cohort in each year of the project, in addition to continuing support for each previous TPDP student cohort. Carol M. White Physical Education Program - CFDA# 84.215F
The Carol M. White Physical Education Program provides grants to initiate, expand, or improve physical education programs, including after-school programs, for students in one or more grades from kindergarten through 12th grade in order to help students make progress toward meeting State standards for physical education. Credit Enhancement for Charter School Facilities Program - CFDA# 84.354A
This program will provide grants to eligible entities to permit them to enhance the credit of charter schools so that they can access private-sector and other non-Federal capital to acquire, construct, and renovate facilities at a reasonable cost. Grant projects awarded under this program will be of sufficient size, scope, and quality to enable the grantees to implement effective strategies. Applications available: April 3, 2003. National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research--Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers (RERCs) Program - CFDA# 84.133E
RERCs conduct research, development, and training activities regarding rehabilitation technology: including rehabilitation engineering, assistive technology devices, and assistive technology services, in order to enhance opportunities for meeting the needs of, and addressing the barriers confronted by, individuals with disabilities in all aspects of their lives. This program provides technical assistance and information that support States and local entities in building capacity to improve early intervention, educational, and transitional services and results for children with disabilities and their families. Teacher Quality Enhancement Grants Program - CFDA#s 84.336B and 84.336D
The purpose of this program is to promote improvements in the quality of new teachers, with the ultimate goal of increasing student achievement in the nation's K-12 classrooms. Partnership grants are designed to promote significant improvements in teacher education by strengthening the vital role of K-12 educators in the design and implementation of effective teacher education programs, and by increasing collaboration among these educators and institutions of higher education, and departments of arts and sciences. The Underground Railroad Educational and Cultural program will provide grants to nonprofit educational organizations that are established to research, display, interpret, and collect artifacts relating to the history of the Underground Railroad. Math and Science Partnership Program
The Math and Science Partnership (MSP) program builds on the nation's dedication to improve mathematics and science education through support of partnerships that unite the efforts of local school districts with faculties of colleges and universities (especially disciplinary faculties in mathematics, science and engineering) and with other stakeholders. The MSP program seeks to improve student outcomes in mathematics and science for all students, at all K-12 levels. Application deadline: May 12, 2003.

The purpose of the PCSP is to increase national understanding of the charter school model and to expand the number of high-quality charter schools available to students across the Nation by providing financial assistance for the planning, program design, and initial implementation of charter schools and evaluating the effects of charter schools, including the effects on students, student academic achievement, staff, and parents.
