I Care By Campaign Seeks Participants
Over two million young people in the United States have an emotional or behavioral disability. Stakeholders in the educational process (families, educators, administrators, and policymakers) struggle to find effective methods to help these students succeed. The new I Care By Campaign, inspired by the film “Who Cares About Kelsey?,” provides specific, regularly updated actions that anyone can take to make a difference in the lives of youth who are struggling with emotional or behavioral challenges.
National AfterSchool Association seeks Proposals for Convention
The National AfterSchool Association requests proposals for workshops and special sessions for its 26th Annual Convention. The convention will be held February 28-March 3, 2014, in New York City. Submission deadline: Oct. 25.

School Safety Advocacy Council’s Conference on Bullying Seeks Presenters
The School Safety Advocacy Council’s Annual National Conference on Bullying will be held February 26-28, 2014, in Orlando, Florida. The School Safety Advocacy Council is searching for exceptional presenters to explore best practices and cutting-edge issues dealing with bullying and the influence it has on the healthy academic, social, and emotional development of children and youth. Presenters will reach a national audience of practitioners, educators, administrators, counselors and policy makers who are committed to helping young people flourish both in and out of school. Engage Call for Manuscripts
“Engage,” the International Journal of Research and Practice on Student Engagement, seeks manuscripts for the Spring 2014 issue on the issue of engagement in school to promote student success. Their articles range from academic to practical, and they aim to include at least one article written by a young person or persons from various cultures and nations currently engaged in school or formerly disengaged and now re-engaging. Inclusion Call for Manuscripts
“Inclusion,” the e-journal of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks manuscripts pertaining to the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of life. Information regarding appropriate topics, editorial policy, and manuscript submission procedures, is available in pdf (310 KB, 1 p).
National Housing and Residential Supports Survey from Autism Speaks Seeks Survey Participants
Within the next decade, more than 500,000 individuals with autism will enter adulthood. Finding and securing housing and residential supports for adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) can be challenging for individuals and their families. Autism Speaks seeks to quantify and characterize the housing needs of individuals, adolescents and adults with autism in the United States through the first-of-its-kind National Housing and Residential Supports Survey. The survey is designed for individuals with autism ages 14 and older and their caregivers. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Information provided will be confidential.

The National Youth Leadership Council and co-host Youth Service America are seeking workshop and showcase proposals for MONUMENTAL, the 25th Annual National Service-Learning Conference® and 26th Annual Global Youth Service Day, a professional development conference for youth and adults who view youth as solutions for stronger communities and schools. Workshop proposals that offer innovative strategies based on research, focusing on results, with well-designed, interactive sessions that do not rely on PowerPoint presentations, and are not sales pitches, are more likely be accepted. Young people are encouraged to submit proposals. Deadline for proposal submission: September 27, 2013.

The National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability/Youth (NCWD/Youth) is offering a professional development opportunity for youth serving organizations (and their partners). The Youth Service Professionals’ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Professional Development Demonstration and Evaluation (YSP/KSA Demo) will provide partnering organizations in three communities with four free full-day interactive training sessions covering the necessary competencies for professionals who work with youth, including pre- and post-training capacity building and support for all sites. Participation is free (lead organizations will receive a stipend to cover administration costs); each site’s lead organization must be committed to professional development and evaluation, provide 25-30 trainees, engage two partner organizations, and meet other eligibility requirements. Applications are due August 31, 2013.
